Intangible (2020)
Acrylic on water color paper (15 x 21 cm)

This series pays homage to the strength and resilience of women in society. I illustrate the female form capturing the essence of our humanity, celebrating our identity, and acknowledging our existence. When I illustrate these forms, I illustrate myself, connecting my emotions with the canvas and embracing the journey of womanhood.
With my work, I tend to challenge the ideologies of the male gaze and the age-old objectification of the female form. The women are the subject of my art owning the freedom to embrace their bodies, sensuality, and sexuality, portraying the physicality of the body experienced from within. Embracing personal freedom, my work addresses issues of systematic inequalities, freedom of expression, sexuality, and censorship by unfurling the layers of femininity, unveiling the beauty, fragility, and strength of the female form.

There is an unforced flow of brush on paper with drips of color that is not restricted to a confined area. It moves freely and defines its stance on paper. There is a continuous unapologetic flow of strokes, creating a contrast between the foreground and background, soft strokes, and the color red. Red symbolizes the strength women have restored and the scars they have endured for years. It aggressively demands action toward gender inequality and embraces the existence of the female form that is no longer passive but a profound entity.
